Amal Alamuddin is reportedly pregnant in what sources say is a bid to save her crumbling marriage to George Clooney.
Though the couple has only been married for a little more than three months, they are already surrounded by divorce rumors. Sources close to the couple claim they have been fighting nearly non-stop and are at a breaking point.
Now, it appears they may be hoping that a baby will help save the marriage. Amal Alamuddin had been spotted with what was described as a baby bump , and rumors are spreading that she may now be pregnant .
While the news may seem to go against George Clooney’s previous reputation as an avowed bachelor, the actor has actually been talking about having kids for quite some time.
“I think it’s the most responsible thing you can do, to have kids. I think it’s the biggest responsibility you’ll have, and it’s not something to be taken lightly,” Clooney told People magazine back in 2006. “I don’t have that thing in me that says, ‘must do it.’ I don’t see myself ever having kids. But everything in my life has changed over periods of time … and the world does change.”
But reports that Amal Alamuddin is pregnant also seem to conflict with reports of the couple’s marriage. Sources say she has been controlling since their Venice wedding last year, and that it’s starting to wear thin on Clooney.
“Amal doesn’t want George to hang out with any female friends without her being there,” a source told Life and Style . “This includes Cindy Crawford and Angelina Jolie — even though they’re married.”
The source said that George has complied with her wishes, even though it’s affecting his friendships.
“To appease her, George has neglected pals like Richard Kind, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski — and they all feel snubbed,” the source claimed. “A couple of his closet friend also feel Amal comes off as haughty and talks down to people… They’re not warming to her at all.”
But there are doubts about reports that Amal Alamuddin is pregnant, and that she and George Clooney are headed for divorce. Another source noted that the couple hosted a group of their friends — women included — for a post-Christmas get-together. And there is not much evidence to support the pregnancy rumors outside of the word of some unnamed sources.
