Sensenbrenner Apologizes For Michelle Obama ‘Large Posterior’ Comment
Yesterday, Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner took a lot of heat for talking about Michelle Obama’s backside. Sensenbrenner said that it was hypocritical for the first lady to push a healthy diet when she has a “large posterior.” The congressman has now apologized to Mrs. Obama, saying that he was out of line to talk about her that way.
Sensenbrenner said that he sent a personal letter to the first lady to apologize for the “large posterior” comment. The congressman said:
“I regret my inappropriate comment and I have sent a personal note to the First Lady apologizing,”
Sensenbrenner, who has a posterior of equal or greater mass than Michelle Obama, made the comments to church members at a Christmas bazaar at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church. According to JS Online, Sensenbrenner made the comment to show that Michelle Obama wasn’t practicing what she was preaching.
Obama, who has been working to end child obesity, started the “Let’s Move” initiative to encourage kids to exercise and eat right. Obama and 300,000 people from around the country just broke a world record for most people to do jumping jacks simultaneously.
Obama writes in the “Let’s Move” mission statement:
“In the end, as First Lady, this isn’t just a policy issue for me. This is a passion. This is my mission… I am determined to work with folks across this country to change the way a generation of kids thinks about food and nutrition.”
Do you think Sensenbrenner’s “large posterior” comment was out of line?
