Judd Apatow Twitter Rant About Bill Cosby: ‘He Should Speak Publicly’ About Rape Allegations

As the Bill Cosby rape allegations build up, with up to 30 women coming forward, claiming The Cosby Show star “date raped” them, in one form or another, under the guise of “forwarding their careers,” some celebrities have spoken out about the allegations, weighing in on how they think Cosby should respond.

One such celeb, film producer and comedian, among other things, Judd Apatow, decided to voice his opinion on the matter via his Twitter account, which he used to rant about Cosby and the said allegations.

As reported by Philly.com, Apatow thinks the comedian should address the dozens of sexual abuse allegations against him, and not remain quiet, essentially “pleading the fifth.”

“He should speak publicly about how false this all is,” Judd Apatow wrote in a Twitter chat on Friday to a fan who wrote, “innocent until proven” about the Bill Cosby allegations.

While up to 30 women have come forward to accuse the iconic comedian of spiking their drinks during hotel room visits, no charges have been brought against Cosby due to the limitation of rights as well as other legal complications.

One of the accusers, supermodel Beverly Johnson, came forward alleging the 77-year-old actor drugged and sexually assaulted her in his Beverly Hills hotel suite some years ago.

Cosby’s lawyer, Marty Singer, has so far vehemently denied the numerous claims and accusations made against his client, telling reporters, “We’ve reached a point of absurdity. The stories are getting more ridiculous.”

Back to Judd Apatow and his Twitter rant, the producer-director continued, “It is not extortion when most of the accusers do not want anything. There are much older woman who suffered for decades. I always wonder why some people try so hard to not believe women who have been assaulted.”

“What is the root of that?” he asked.

On top of that, Apatow clearly feels it is inappropriate for venues to host Cosby, as he tweeted, “So @Centre_Square – are you really going to let Bill Cosby perform on your stage January 7? Do people still find him delightful after 30 accusers?”
