Demi Lovato Eating Disorder: ‘Wilmer [Valderrama] Called Me Out On It’

Demi Lovato has finally gotten herself healthy and confident — and she has her boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama to thank for it.

Lovato revealed as much in a recent interview with Fitness Magazine.

“I almost went back to rehab for my eating disorder last summer. I was obsessing over food and terrified of it at the same time. Wilmer noticed and called me out on it, which was a relief.”

Lovato is now on a structured meal plan, where she eats four small meals and two snacks a day. Three years earlier, Demi battled bulimia, self-harm, and addiction, forcing her to check into rehab.

“I had two choices: I could pretend it never happened, or I could tell people the truth,” she said. “I was tired of hiding and relieved to know what was wrong with me so I could finally do something to get better.”

And better she now is. So good, in fact, that she’s not only touring, but one of her most recent singles, “Really Don’t Care,” was also certified platinum. According to Hallel, Demi will be releasing a new album next year, and according to Inquistr, fans got an extra special Christmas present when Lovato released the video for “Nightingale” via Twitter.

What was even more fitting, of course, was the special cameo by Demi’s beau, Wilmer Valderrama. The sweet ode to Wilmer gives the entire video a tremendous impact, and has received accolades from different web sites across the internet.

“We absolutely love the video!” Hollywood Life proclaims. “It takes us through scenes of her life on the road with shots from her concert performance. At minute 2:56, we even get to see a quick and sneaky little kiss between she and Wilmer!”

Sugar Scape agrees.

“It’s a ridiculously beautiful track with a very emotional story behind it that resonates with a lot of her fans. Demi’s spoken before about how she penned the lyrics in memory of a friend that she lost to suicide as a teenager, and how she sometimes feels his presence with her. With such a personal sentiment to the words, it’s only right that it had an equally beautiful music video to go alongside it, and the final thing is pretty much perfect.”
