Man Hit By Subway Pushed: Fatal Subway Incident Not An Accident, Police Say Man Was Pushed

A man hit by a subway was pushed on to the tracks, according to police. AZ Central reported that a man believed to be in his 60s died after falling on to the tracks at the Grand Concourse and East 167th Street station in the Bronx. It is believed that someone pushed the man, and police are currently looking to identify a suspect in the case.

The incident happened on Sunday morning around 8:40 a.m., according to MTA spokeswoman Marisa Baldeo. The New York Police Department has launched an investigation, and hope to have some answers — including a possible motive — soon.

The man hit by the subway train could have been pushed after he was robbed, for example, or this could have been a random act of violence. According to KSL, the victim has been identified as Bronx resident Wai Kuen Kwok.

On November 14, another man was hit by a subway train in the Bronx. According to the New York Daily News, police believed that the man, who was likely homeless, fell on to the tracks when the 6 train at the St. Lawrence Ave. station wasn’t too far away. Police had been investigating that incident, but it did not appear as though foul play was involved. Giving the proximity to the most recent subway incident, however, there could be a connection.

If the man hit by the subway train on Friday was pushed on to the tracks, there could be some one planning these incidents. It is unknown if police have made a connection of any kind between the two cases. It is also unknown what the differences were between the two cases, one that made police believe it was an accident, and the other that led police to believe that the man was pushed.

New York subway incidents have been in the news quite a bit this year. An incident back in August involved a stabbing at Grand Central Terminal. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, a man stabbed three people, leaving one critically injured, after an incident on the train involving a child being bumped into. Police say that the suspect was “heavily intoxicated,” and needed detoxification at a nearby hospital. He was charged with assault, menacing, and criminal possession of a weapon.
