WWE News: Major Update On Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Wrestling At ‘WrestleMania 31’
It was announced earlier today that WWE legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be involved in a comedy movie titled Central Intelligence, which also stars comedian Kevin Hart.
Central Intelligence is set to begin filming in the spring of 2015, right around the time WrestleMania 31 takes place on March 29, 2015.
Johnson will play a hit man for the CIA who needs the help of Kevin Hart, who plays a sports star that he looked up to as a kid, to prevent the sale of military secrets.
With the filming of Central Intelligence taking place so close to the WrestleMania 31 date, it’s likely that The Rock won’t be participating in a match of any kind at the big event in March even though Vince McMahon reportedly wants a match between Brock Lesnar and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to happen at WrestleMania 31.
The last time Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson wrestled, he took on John Cena at WrestleMania 29. In that match Johnson suffered three hernial tears, forcing him to have surgery and putting his then-upcoming move “Hercules” in danger of being delayed.
After WrestleMania 29, The Rock was interviewed and asked if his match with Cena was the final match of his career. In the interview, The Rock seemed almost certain that his match with Cena was his last. The interview is embedded below.

About a year after the interview took place, Johnson did another interview talking with SportsNation‘s Michelle Beadle, and when Beadle asked Johnson about a possible return to the ring, he answered by saying that he would love to have another match and that he had been talking with Vince McMahon about getting back in the ring.

Johnson, who is 42, is one of the busiest actors in Hollywood and it’s unlikely that he’ll ever have a clear schedule to get back into the ring in the near future, and with every passing year it’s more likely that he’ll never get back into the ring again.
On top of Central Intelligence, Johnson has two other projects that are announced for next year, one being Journey to the Center of the Earth 4 and the other being Journey 3: From the Earth to the Moon.
As of right now there’s no clear plan for The Rock to be involved in any way at WrestleMania 31 in March. However, when he appeared at last year’s WrestleMania 30 in New Orleans it was a last-minute decision. So if The Rock makes his return to the WWE, it’ll definitely be a big surprise. And if he wrestles another match, that will be an even bigger surprise.
