Brooklyn Beckham Follows In Father’s Footsteps, Signs Soccer Contract, But Why Will David Beckham Not Be Happy?

Brooklyn Beckham has allegedly signed with Premier League giants Arsenal, and in so doing, has followed in his illustrious father’s foot-steps.

Brooklyn Beckham is the oldest son of soccer icon David Beckham and Victoria Beckham. However David Beckham won’t be too happy that his son has picked Arsenal, as the elder Beckham is a devout Manchester United fan. In fact Brooklyn Beckham actually turned down the Old Trafford outfit in favor of a move to the Emirates stadium.

However fans that now think that Brooklyn is on the cusp of emulating his pops shouldn’t get too excited. He has only signed an academy contract with the North London side, which means that his progress will be analysed over the next few years before he gets a professional deal.

Brooklyn has already had quite an illustrious start to his young career. Not only has he trained with the Gunners, and played for their Under-16 team, but he has also had trials with Queen’s Park Rangers, Chelsea, Fulham, and Manchester United as well.

In fact the former England captain’s offspring was wanted by a number of clubs and had several contracts to consider. However after a lengthy discussion with Arsenal, following his impressive training performances with them, the 15-year-old opted for the Gunners.

Brooklyn Beckham is believed to play on the right wing and he has honed his craft to such an extent that coaches and managers believe he could prosper in the profession. A source for the Daily Star (via Yahoo!) has now revealed that if Brooklyn Beckham “continues to shine,” his short-term contract could be extended.

Brooklyn is talented and he has stood out in all of the training sessions and games he was played. He has had other teams sniffing around and it was always going to be a case of when, not if, he was signed up by a big-name club. Arsenal realise he can be a huge talent. They have seen that potential and protected their asset. The club has signed him, fending off interest from Manchester and Chelsea in the meantime. Next summer we may see him him sign a big-money deal and withe Arsenal.”

David Beckham’s relationship with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is believed to have been integral to Brooklyn’s decision too.

The Beckhams have a strong link with Arsenal despite David’s Manchester United past. David has a good relationship with manager Arsene Wenger. Brooklyn really has potential. Wenger was impressed with his talent, his attitude and his drive to succeed.”

It’s still possible that David Beckham’s other children, Romeo and Cruz, could follow in Brooklyn’s footsteps too as they are both training with Arsenal’s younger sides.
