Keira Knightley revealed recently that she was heavily reprimanded for attending her final school dance along with her friend Emily, who had their commemorative picture from the prom banned and called “disgusting” by their teachers.
New York Magazine’s Vulture caught up with “The Laggies” star, who told them about the commotion that she and her friend Emily caused at the dance.
“We both turned up an hour late, and I’d been filming Bend It Like Beckham , and I turned up in leather pants and a crop top, and she was a model for a while, and she’d been in Paris shooting something, and she turned up as the boy, so she had a black tie with ripped jeans on.”
The reason that Keira Knightley and her friend Emily were condemned so harshly and had their picture banned from appearing alongside other couples at the event? According to the teachers, it was “distasteful” as Knightley and Emily were kissing in the picture.
Keira continued, “We had our picture taken underneath the thing, and she’s kissing me, and we were told that that was disgusting. Our photograph wasn’t allowed — you know when you get up and you collect all the photographs of prom and you buy whatever ones you want. Ours wasn’t allowed to be displayed on that because it wasn’t appropriate.”
On top of the condemnation over the steamy and inappropriate kiss pic, Keira recalls that her and Emily were also reprimanded for their choice of dress and warned that they would be banned from all future school events of they didn’t learn to dress properly.
As if that wasn’t enough to accelerate Keira Knightley to the honor of “the most rebellious attendee at a prom ever,” she continued, “One of the teachers took us both aside and said we were never going to come to anything if we didn’t know how to dress appropriately for events like that. So that was my prom. We had a great time!” She said.
