‘Evolve’ Big Alpha Coming To PS4, Xbox One, PC; How To Get In

Turtle Rock Studios and 2K Games announced Thursday that the Big Alpha for Evolve will hit the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC at the end of October. This is the developer’s chance to test major aspects of the four vs one shooter and your chance to try it out with friends. 2K Games provided a code to help you get in and I’ve got the instructions below.

Xbox One owners are getting the priority treatment for the Evolve alpha as it will get started a day earlier for the console on October 30. PlayStation 4 and PC players will start October 31. The alpha will end for all platforms on November 2.

“The incredible reactions from early Evolve players have exceeded our highest expectations, but we still have a lot of hard work ahead of us in the coming months,” said Chris Ashton, co-founder and design director at Turtle Rock Studios. “We need to stress test the servers and the matchmaking system, look at balance, unlock rates, etc. The alpha test is not fully representative of the final product, but it’s our chance to see what the game looks like in the real world, and we will test again in the open beta for Evolve exclusively for Xbox One in January 2015. The data gathered in the tests will help make Evolve the best that it can possibly be when it launches on February 10, 2015.”

Those that have already pre-ordered Evolve from Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target, or Walmart are guaranteed a spot in the Big Alpha test. Everyone else will need to head to one of two URLs to enter the alpha and enter the following codes.

Xbox One owners will need to go to http://www.2kgames.com/evolve/xboxonealpha/ to register. PlayStation 4 and PC owners can head to EvolveGame.com/BigAlpha.

To help bump up your place in line in the alpha, use the following multi-use code and Referral Code when registering.

  • Referral Code: EVOLVETOWN
  • Alpha Code: 08347-97365-66457

The alpha will include the previously announced two playable monsters – Goliath and Kraken – plus the eight playable characters across the four hunter classes. A third monster and third set of hunters are still being developed for Evolve‘s currently planned February 10th, 2015 launch date.

Note that you will need an Xbox LIVE Gold subscription to participate in the Alpha test on the Xbox One. PlayStation 4 owners will need a PS Plus subscription.
