Tom Hiddleston Cast In ‘Skull Island’, King Kong Origins Story

One of the most sought after British actors, Tom Hiddleston (Thor, The Avengers, War Horse), will star in the King Kong origins film, Skull Island. The movie was one of the big announcements from Legendary Entertainment, at this year’s San Diego Comic Con.

The script will be penned by Max Borenstein, who wrote the screenplay for the remake of Godzilla, which earned critical and financial acclaim and has a sequel planned for 2018. Hiddleston will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts.

Hiddleston is a theater actor who has reinvented himself and is one of the busiest men in showbiz; along with his pals Benedict Cumberbatch and Luke Evans, the Brit is involved in multiple productions, including High Rise, Crimson Peak, and I Saw the Light, in which he plays legendary musician Hank Williams. Tom is also rumored to star in the revamp of Ben-Hur.

Tom Hiddleston as Loki

We don’t know much about the “mysterious and dangerous place” called Skull Island, where King Kong and other pre-historic creatures live, or the role Tom Hiddleston will play, other than it’s an origins story. However, we could speculate that he is some kind of explorer or adventurer who ends up in the dark island in some capacity.

It appears that Hiddleston made a good impression with Legendary, the same studio that is producing the horror film Crimson Peak, about a woman who discovers her new husband is not who she thought he was. Tom has quite an eclectic filmography, complete with several character roles, such as that of Henry V in The Hollow Crown.

We know Tom Hiddleston better for playing the villain Loki, opposite Thor’s Chris Hemsworth, and doing a magnificent job of it. You may also recognize the 33-year-old actor from the Jaguar: Rendevous commercial, which premiered at the last Super Bowl.

Hiddleston has proven that he can undertake any role and do it justice, perhaps that’s why directors are chasing him down for many of the latest blockbusters coming to theaters. Tom continues to play classic roles, as well as modern ones equally successfully.

The Skull Island trailer presented at San Diego Comic Con hinted that the starring role could possibly go to one of the many talented British actors who are making waves in Hollywood. We can expect to see Tom Hiddleston in our theaters on November 4, 2016.
