‘Hunger Games’ Star Josh Hutcherson Reacts To Celebrity Hacking Scandal

It’s been weeks since the celebrity nude photo scandal happened. In this mass hacking, 100 celebrity women have had their privacy invaded and their naked pics seen by millions around the world. In fact, its ramifications are still being felt. One celebrity who seems to have felt it more than most is Hollywood sweetheart Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar winner and Hunger Games star.

As one of the more relevant and high profile stars to have been affected, it was inevitable that Lawrence’s photos would be especially controversial. In an interview with The Daily Beast, Jennifer Lawrence’s Hunger Games co-star Josh Hutcherson took the time put in his two cents about the scandal.

It’s f**kin’ horrible. I haven’t spoken to Jennifer Lawrence since it happened, but as far as the public, Twitter, and media have reacted, it’s awful. We act because it’s what we want to do. I’ve acted since I was 9 years old because it’s my job, it’s what I’m good at, and it’s what I love to do. I don’t want attention. I don’t want to have my private life looked into or have people think they deserve to know about my private life. And then people say, ‘Well, then you shouldn’t have become an actor.’ F**k that. I didn’t choose all that. I chose to be an actor. I was 9 years old! Do you think a 9-year-old is thinking about public scandal? I wanted to make movies.

According to Us Weekly, this is a situation Josh Hutcherson can actively relate to, as last year he had his own photo scandal come to light — though not in such the high profile fashion as Lawrence’s.

“It’s not fair,” Josh Hutcherson stated in an interview with Entertainment Tonight (via International Business Times). “Because [making movies is what] I’m good at and this is my career means that I also have to suffer from this other side?”

Hutcherson, of course, is speaking on actors as a whole, not just his own personal experience. His point, however, rings loud and clear on how much actors have to put up with on a daily basis because of the publicity that comes with their career.

“It makes you feel like you want to run away from it all and escape to a small island away from everybody,” he explained.
