Arby’s has a new sandwich, the Meat Mountain . Arby’s is betting customer will be willing to make the climb.
The Business Insider reports the sandwich comes with 2 chicken tenders, 1.5 oz. of roast turkey, 1.5 oz. of ham, 1 slice of Swiss cheese, 1.5 oz. of corned beef, 1.5 oz. brisket, 1.5 oz. of Angus steak, 1 slice of cheddar cheese, 1.5 oz. roast beef, and 3 half-strips of bacon.
“The sandwich is too big for a clam-shell box/packaging, so it will be wrapped in sandwich paper,” Arby’s spokesman Jason Rollins said Tuesday.
The sandwich, which sells for 10 dollars, is a by-product of the latest Arby’s marketing campaign. When Arby’s placed posters at their restaurants showing the meats they use, customers began asking for the meats on sandwiches. So, Arby’s decided to make the sandwich a “secret menu item.” It won’t be on the menu, but if you order one, they can make it for you, as workers have been trained to make it.
People have already been ordering the super-sized sandwich, and posting pictures on Twitter. The word is beginning to get around.
The Consumerist is reporting that a gentleman named Joe from San Antonio bought the Meat Mountain , and thought quite highly of it. “The trickiest part was trying to keep the chicken fingers on there while eating it,” Joe explains. “That being said, it could be done if you just compressed it a little bit. With the amount of meat you’re getting, it seemed easily worth the $10.”
“As far as taste goes, it was like a big mouthful of ‘Murica/Freedom. Getting a bit of a headache, but 10/10 would order again.”
One of the biggest questions being asked about the Meat Mountain is, is it worth the price? Fastcompany.com took this to task, and came up with a breakdown of the ingredients as if they were purchased at a store separately. Fastcompany used the online shopping website Peapod by Giant for their pricing. Their result;

- 1 bun (46 cents)
Their shopping total came to $9:13. Their price also didn’t take into account labor, materials for wrapping or bagging, So, for right now, the sandwich would seem to be a great price, if, of course, you’re in the market for such a ‘Meat Mountain.’
This is Arby’s first foray into the “secret menu” market, following the leads of established restaurants such as Starbucks, Burger King, In N Out, and Taco Bell , among others. A simple Google search will give you which restaurants and what secret items are available.
