Well, it’s official Emma Stone is about to make her Broadway debut. It’s been rumored for a few weeks that Stone was thinking about making her debut in Cabaret and now an announcement has been made sealing the deal.
According to Playbill, Stone was originally supposed to play the role of Sally Bowles back when talk about a revival of the revival started. Unfortunately Emma Stone had to drop out due to other commitments, which happened to be promotion for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Actress Michelle Williams stepped in to replace Emma Stone in Broadway’s Cabaret, and has been playing the role since previews started in March.
Since Michelle Williams made her Broadway debut reception has been polarizing.

And if Emma Stone replaces the terribly ill-equipped Michelle Williams then I will be revisiting CABARET so fast.

Stone will take up the role opposite Alan Cumming’s Emcee in Cabaret on November 11 after Michelle Williams leaves on November 9. Initially Williams was only slated for an April to late August run, but announced that she’s extending her role through to November. Emma Stone will perform in Cabaret until the end of its run on February 1, 2015.
When Alan Cumming decided to expand his run it was announced that the show would go on through to January 4, 2015, but now that Emma Stone is on board Cabaret’s production has been pushed back to February 1, 2015.
So far the 2014 revival has earned Tony Award nominations for supporting actors Linda Emond and Danny Burstein. Alan Cumming was ineligible for a nomination this year because it was a revival performance. However, Cumming won a Tony award back in 1998 in the first reimagining of Cabaret.
Other actresses to take on the role of Sally Bowles in the 1998 revival include Molly Ringwald, Natasha Richardson, Deborah Gibson, and Jennifer Jason Leigh, just to mention a few. Richardson is the only actress to get a Tony nomination for the role. The late actress won for the Tony in 1998.
