We already know that Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s relationship with Jennifer Lopez might be the cause for his early retirement from Dancing with the Stars , but is it also a catalyst for another big rift in his life?
According to the horse’s mouth (Chmerkovskiy in this case), the professional dancer is no longer speaking with old pal and dance partner Kirstie Alley because of the people he associates with. Where does Lopez come into this? Well, Lopez has been out and about in full force with her BFF actress Leah Remini. Apparently this has caused a rift in Maks’ friendship with Kirstie.
Although Chmerkovskiy didn’t go into many details, during his appearance on Watch What Happens Live! with Andy Cohen, he did open up briefly about the nature of his changed relationship.
“She stopped getting along with me. We had a great relationship … But I got a message now that I am associating with other people that she can’t be associated with, I am no longer to be spoken with, and sorry, but it is what it is.”
While he didn’t quite say who he was associating with, everyone knows that Leah Remini doesn’t get along with Kirstie after she left Scientology. To add insult to injury Leah then accused the actress of cutting off all communication with her because she left the religion. Alley fired back by calling Remini a “bigot” for her remarks.
It’s easy to connect the dots on who their main person in common is if you look at Lopez’s very pubic display of friendship with Remini.
If that’s not enough validation, take Chmerkovskiy’s comments into consideration:
“I think the world of her. I’m not judging people by their religion. I’m Jewish. I don’t really believe in science fiction, but whatever.”
Although the professional dancer did deliver Alley quite the blow in his previous comment to Bravo’s Andy Cohen, he did end it all on a positive note.
“It’s sad that we’ve gone through so much together, and I feel like I’ve helped her. And this is where we’re at now. But I still think the world of her, and I wish her all the best.”
So far Kirstie Alley hasn’t responded to Maks’ comments but she did leave this cryptic tweet yesterday.
