Cappuccino flavored potato chips?! Whatever next? How about some Mango Salsa or Wasabi Ginger flavor to go with it? Appeal to you? Lay’s are hoping that they do, as the company is introducing four new sizzling flavors for the summer, (Cheddar, Bacon, and Mac & Cheese are the others).

The new flavors are set to hit stores later this month as they won Lay’s annual “Do Us a Flavor” contest, which gives members of the public the chance to invent and decide which flavor potato chips the company will sell, and win a handy one million dollars .

As soon as the four new summer flavors are in stores, people can vote on which one is their favorite, through October 18. The idea behind it is that customers will feel a buzz via social networking and be encouraged to visit stores in search of the new publicized flavors.

Lay’s is also trying to stay with the current trends so it is introducing to the market ever more exotic flavor mixes, to entice customers and to generate sales. Also in July, the company plans to introduce Lay’s Stax chips in Korean barbecue flavor and Lay’s Stax in Thai Sweet Chilli flavor.

It remains to be seen which of the new Lay’s flavor will be liked the most and voted for by customers. Last year Cheesy Garlic Bread beat Chicken & Waffles and Sriracha to win first place for Lay’s, and a million dollars for the person who suggested it.

Ram Krishnan, Frito-Lay’s senior vice president of brand marketing said to reporters said, “I can’t imagine us 10 years ago doing a wasabi ginger flavor.” but, despite the growing demand among consumers for more exotic flavors, the top four sellers for the company are still: Original, Barbecue, Cheddar & Sour Cream and Sour Cream & Onion.

Which of the four new Lay’s flavors will you be voting for? Will it be the Cappuccino? Share your thoughts with us in the comments feed below.
