‘Assassin’s Creed: Unity’ Release Date, Details, ‘Notre Dame Edition’ Announced

The Assassin’s Creed: Unity release date has been announced, alongside the Notre Dame Edition and other bundles. The first next-gen exclusive game in Ubisoft’s flagship franchise will still be sold in physical disc format as well, so the possibility previously reported by The Inquisitr of going fully digital isn’t happening yet.

We know this because one of the ads clearly shows game cases for each console involved, and why waste the effort and expense if it’s going to be all digital?

There is still no confirmation on whether Ubisoft Quebec’s first major game in the series might be the rumored Assassin’s Creed: Comet, though it would make sense if it was, and it might also lead to a delay. If they haven’t already been working on it, Comet could be a rush job hitting the 2014 release window.

After the delay of Watch Dogs, it’s unlikely that Ubisoft would be so quick to rush another major franchise.

The official Assassin’s Creed: Unity release date was announced in an ad on Game, alongside details surrounding the actual gameplay. The game is set to hit on October 28, and will star Arno Dorian, a French native born in Versailles, as he leads the people through the French Revolution. The unity aspect refers to the concept of the cooperative multiplayer mode in which all players control a different version of Arno. The competitive multiplayer mode, which most people don’t like anyway, has been cut.

Why they decided to simply make clones of Arno instead of trying for a more diverse cast of assassins including females is still up for debate. We can only assume that it would take them past the target Assassin’s Creed: Unity release date to program the animations and everything for a female assassin, even though they’ve done it before with Liberation.

The AC: Unity bundles include the Notre Dame Edition, the Revolution Edition, and the Bastille Edition. Game exclusive pre-order bonuses include:

  • The Sabre of Honor – unlocked when you log in to your game account.
  • Heavy Pack (Two different axes) – unlocked when your first teammate redeems their code.
  • Guard Pack (Razorhead Spear and National Guard trousers) – unlocked when your second teammate redeems their code.
  • Original soundtrack and Fall Comic Issue Number One – unlocked when your third teammate redeems their code.
  • Killed By Science mission – unlocked when your fourth teammate redeems their code.

Special editions available on the Assassin’s Creed: Unity release date include packaging bonuses such as (in the Notre Dame Edition) an Arno gargoyle figurine, two lithographs, the official soundtrack, and two single player missions including “The American Prisoner” and “The Chemical Revolution.” The Bastille Edition includes a jumbo steel case and almost everything from the previously mentioned bundle, except for the Arno figurine. The Revolution Edition includes several DLC bonuses, but only the “Chemical Revolution” mission.

Are you ready to take a leap of faith and pre-order Ubisoft’s next major title? Will the Notre Dame Edition and other bundles make the Assassin’s Creed: Unity release date worth waiting for?
