Rockstar Wins With GTA V and GTA Online Content and Events

It’s not new news that, according to Metro, ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ (GTA V) has smashed seven Guinness World Records, including best-selling video game of all time, and has become the only entertainment property (including books and movies) to gross over $1 billion dollars, which it did in its first three days on the market. Furthermore, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that GTA V and GTA Online have become global obsessions.

What is new news is that, according to Guardianlv, the Rockstar Games GTA Online Independence Day event is now over. From July 3rd through July 6th, GTA Online players were given double RP’s and double GTA$ while playing new missions in the GTA Independence Day playlist.

Rockstar Games also threw in some serious discounts for in-game heavy ammo (25% off) and invited players to take snapshots of their most glorious in-game moments of wanton destruction and/or creativity representing their “patriotic” side. Guardianlv goes on to tell us that the winning player will receive $1 million GTA$’s and a license plate that says “AMERICA.”

The fact that GTA V literally flew off store shelves when the game was initially released and that Rockstar Games has no problems getting eager participants to attend its online events seems to point the neutral observer in the direction of saying that when it comes to loyal fans and new customers, Rockstar Games must be doing something right.

On Thursday July 3rd, Guardianlv tells us that Rockstar Games streamed a special event that was viewable for GTA V fans everywhere. In the event, which was titled “America Versus Great Britain- The Rematch,” Rockstar’s New York based American developers faced off against Rockstar’s London, UK based team as each side sought victory while competing in GTA Online’s new Independence Day missions. On top of that, Rockstar released update 1.15 to GTA Online over the holiday weekend.

The above actions help to illustrate why Rockstar Games enjoys such an enviable relationship with its GTA V fan base. The developer is both involved with its fans and keeps the game alive through continually creating new content for the game.

Additionally, Rockstar Games has taken a keen interest in including riveting in-game jobs and exciting story-lines within their games to give the Grand Theft Auto series a depth of content and lasting playability. After-all, the sales numbers don’t lie. They must have done something right.

There is, however, one caveat to the above statement. Rockstar Games does have at least one fan that has been bothered enough by the failure of the developer to release the promised ‘GTA V Online Heists’ update that The Epoch Times tells us the fan created a website called AreTheHeistsThereYet.com, which prominently features a countdown of the number of days that ‘Heists’ hasn’t been released since its previously promised release date.

Rockstar has issued that fan and other disappointed ‘Heists’ fans an apology, stating:

“We are very sorry for the delay, and are working hard to bring them [the heists] to you as soon as we can. Please know that we are focused as always on making the best possible content for you to play and we are thankful to all of you for your patience, understanding, and support.”

As The Inquisitr points out, Rockstar Games also caught some flak from Lindsay Lohan recently. The Hollywood actress is suing Rockstar Games on the grounds that the GTA V character, Lacey Jonas, bears an uncanny and unauthorized resemblance to herself.

GTA V and GTA Online have gained a global following of dedicated fans for a reason. Unfortunately, you can’t always make everyone happy, right Lindsay?
