Bruno Mars Sings For Crash Victim He ‘Saved’ [Watch]

Bruno Mars is a very talented musician and has won numerous awards throughout his career. What he didn’t know until recently was that his singing had played a pivotal role in the recovery of 11-year-old Zumyah Thorpe from a car accident.

Zumyah was the only survivor of the crash in which her pregnant mother and two sisters were killed when a drunk driver smashed into their vehicle. She suffered a severe injury to her brain and went into a coma.

Every night, in the Cleveland hospital where she was recuperating, the nurses played songs of Bruno Mars to her, and her doctors believe that this played a significant role in her recovery.

After Bruno Mars learned of this extraordinary tale of survival, and understood his part in it, he went to meet with Zumyah and her grandparents before the concert he was giving on Saturday.

More than that, ITV.com reported that he serenaded Zumyah at the concert in front of 20,000 of his fans, singing her favorite song, “Just The Way You Are.” Then, he jumped into the audience and hugged her.

Zumyah’s grandmother, Ronda, told WKYC,“No one can really understand what we’ve gone through when you see a child that’s in a coma and unable to walk, talk. When she actually wakes up and is able to speak, the first thing she does is sing the one Bruno song which is “I’m Amazing (Just The Way You Are).”

Zumyah described her meeting with Bruno Mars explaining that he gave her a teddy bear and “a bag with a lot of stuff.”

When the concert was over, Bruno Mars posted a picture showing the two of them snuggling up, and added the caption,”Zumyah tonight you gave my band and I something we’ve never felt before. you’re an inspiration to the world! #WeLoveYouZumyahFollow.”
