Jennifer Garner Doesn’t Keep In Touch With Co-Star Mark Ruffalo, Here’s Why

Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo seemed to be great friends during their press junkets for their 2004 film 13 Going on 30. A decade later and that doesn’t seem to be the case. Like most co-stars the two lost touch with each other, but this story is a bit unique.

Mark Ruffalo and Keira Knightley were on Watch What Happens Live on Thursday night to promote their film Begin Again. The show, which has a very candid format, is hosted by Bravo’s Andy Cohen. During the show Cohen tries to get the most gossip out of his subjects. It seems as though one light hearted attempt became much more than any of us would have expected during Ruffalo’s appearance.

During the segment Ruffalo was asked whether or not he and Jennifer Garner kept in touch. Without a second thought, Ruffalo said flatly, “We had a great time together, and I think we would, but then Ben came on the scene, and that was the end of that.”

Cohen jokingly replied back, “I heard he doesn’t allow her to have male friends. I made that up.” Ruffalo simply shrugged and said he wasn’t going to “confirm or deny.” That pretty much says it all.

For those who were wondering Mark Ruffalo and Jennifer Garner starred opposite each other in the successful romantic comedy film 13 Going on 30. Although the bit of news to come out of Watch What Happens Live suggests there was something deeper between Jennifer Garner and her leading man, it seems like timing wasn’t on their side. Ruffalo has been married to actress Sunrise Coigney since 2000. At the time he had one child with Sunrise, and as for Garner the star was dating Alias co-star Michael Vartan. Funny enough, Garner left Vartan for Ben Affleck shortly after wrapping on 13 Going on 30.

As for what Jennifer Garner thinks of her husband’s competitive nature, it seems as though she’s amused. According to the actress, Ben’s competitive spirit comes out in full force at their oldest daughter Violet’s basketball game. The actress said on Live with Kelly & Michael:

“I clap for everyone who makes a shot on either team because I feel like, good shot great job. Meanwhile, he is freaking out and I’m constantly like, ‘stop it!’ You know, he’ll be saying, ‘she’s open! Do you see she’s open?!’ It’s like, Ben, they’re eight. You’re yelling at an 8-year-old little girl. She will see that Violet is open and she will get the ball to her when it’s appropriate.”
