It was rumored that former High School Musical star Zac Efron had a brief struggle with substance abuse; but the Indian Express reported that Zac is officially out of rehab and ready to hit the dating scene again.
Shortly after High School Musical , 26-year-old Efron started dating former Disney star Vanessa Hudgens, who is currently 25. The couple has since split up. According to Contact Music , Zac had to check himself into treatment facilities twice last year to seek help for his alcoholism. But now Efron claims to be in a “great place,” and is ready to search for the girl of his dreams.
A source close to Efron told Radar Online, “Zac wants to date someone who’s not intimidated by fame and who can challenge him intellectually.”
Zac has apparently put together a list of eligible women he’s interested in dating. Despite being 14 years older than him, actress Eva Mendez, 40, is at the top of the list. The source explained that the age difference doesn’t bother Efron, who has always been interested in Mendez — even though she’s currently dating Ryan Goslin.
“Zac has compiled a ‘wish list’ of eligible women – and Eva Mendes heads the list. He’s always loved her look and thought Ryan Gosling was insane not to put a ring on her finger. If she was even remotely interested he’d jump at the chance.”
Efron has also shown some interest in R&B artist Rihanna, but ruled her out because of her love of hard partying, which would likely drag Zac back down the road of substance abuse. “Zac also has always had a huge crush on Rihanna, apparently,” said the source, “but her partying habit rules her out for anything long-term.”
Zac Efron has also been in the news lately for a bizarre incident with Dave Franco, who claims he broke Zac’s hand on his balls. According to Cosmopolitan , Zac Efron claimed to have broken his hand on a set piece of the movie Neighbors , but co-star Dave Franco remembers it differently.
“Well… he can claim it was on a mantel, but I’m 98 percent sure it was upon impact of my balls. It was a typical stand-off where we’re holding on to each other’s balls and we were wearing cups over our junk, and I really do think that he came in hard and literally fractured his hand. So, regardless of what happens in my career from here on out, I can always fall back on the fact that Zac Efron broke his hand on my balls.”
