Arnold Schwarzenner Buffed Up, Hollywood-Ready

For a few suit-wearing years there during and shortly after Arnold Schwarzenegger’s stint running the state of California, the former Mr. Olympia looked more like the former part of that title than the latter.

What a difference a few years of a movie comeback can make.

Here’s a recent photo taken of Arnold back in camera-ready mode:

It’s been a busy year, but not in that “trying to leave behind a political legacy” kind of busy.

Earlier this month, Schwarzenegger’s Sabotage opened. In a new take on an old type, Arnold leads a team of DEA agents into a character-driver plot that some reviewers have likened to an Agatha Christie film.

If you haven’t seen the trailer for Sabotage, click below:

Schwarzenegger appears in an interview about Sabotage in the bonus features for the DVD, which will be released on July 22. He says that director David Ayer, who wrote the screenplay for Training Day, “really drills down and really asks you to perform better.”

So it seems, for Schwarzenegger, it’s one action movie after the next again.

Other examples:

Perhaps there was no other way to promote the new movie Expendables III at Cannes, so Schwarzenegger, Sly Stallone, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, et al, crashed the film festival in a tactical assault vehicle to the delight of the starstruck legions.

And Schwarzenegger‘s next big project is a return to the Terminator franchise for a reprise of his T-800 robot opposite Matt Smith of the BBC’s Dr. Who series.

After all, on Twitter, Schwarzenegger’s avatar proclaims: “Former Mr. Olympia, Conan, Terminator, and Governor of California. I killed the Predator. i told you I’d be back.”

But if you were starting to wonder whether the 66-years-young Schwarzenegger still had the goods to keep up, he recently assured the BBC that he’s once again “addicted” to exercising, training twice a day as he did way back in his “sure he could be Governor someday” days.

You don’t believe him?
