Paula Patton Opens Up About Split From Robin Thicke

Paula Patton has finally decided to break her silence about her split from her longtime love Robin Thicke. Although Thicke felt hopeful about their reconciliation earlier in the year it seems like, at least for now, that the two are not getting back together.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, the 38-year-old Patton — who shares a son with Thicke — said that she will always have a deep love for the “Blurred Lines” singer. The two have quite a track record as far as long-lasting relationships go. Paula and Robin met as teenagers and started dating when she was 15 and he was 14. Their marriage also endured eight years of bliss before Paula Patton announced her decision to leave Robin earlier in the year.

Discussing her relationship with Robin Thicke, Paula opened up and said:

“He wasn’t my first kiss, but he was my first lots of other things.”

Following the split, Thicke tried to win his estranged wife back as rumors circulated that the cause for the split was everything from an open marriage gone wrong to fidelity issues. Despite Thicke’s public declarations to Paula Patton, he admitted to People magazine that the two were “both doing well. We’re both very happy right now – much happier.”

Aside from her relationship with Robin, Paula Patton — who shares a 3-year-old son, Julian, with Thicke — opened up about what started her acting career.

“I felt uncomfortable in my own skin, so I liked the other side of the camera. It took until I was 27 to say, ‘You only have one life to live, so you might as well go and see if you can act.”

Since she took those tentative steps Patton has had roles in Hitch, Precious, Jumping the Broom, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, 2 Guns, and is currently filming Warcraft. Her most recent film is based on the online game.

As for Robin, he opened up in an interview with People about all of the emotional declarations he made for his estranged wife Paula during a few of his shows.

“My music is very honest about what I’m going through and my songs are about my life, and my relationship with her was 21 years of my life, so I just thought it was important to me to let people know how much she means to me.”

Recently Robin’s dad actor Alan Thicke gave his opinion on the couple, saying:

“We love them, they’re great people. Whatever they decide to do, it will be the right thing.”
