A man allegedly allowed a hyena to bite off his penis because he thought the experience would make him rich.

According to media accounts, business associates and a witch doctor told the man that sacrificing some of his body parts would increase his wealth.

The Times of Zambia reports that the victim, a man from Malawi who is in his early 20s, followed instructions to go out into the bush in a Zambian border town at about 4:00 am and take off all his clothes. In describing what happened next, he said that “a hyena came to me and started eating my toes and eventually my manhood was eaten.”

He also said that “the witch doctor had not indicated the body parts that would be ‘lost’ and how, although he was told he would encounter a hyena… after the incident, he crawled to a nearby road where some police officers picked him and took him to the hospital.”

He was treated at the Zambian hospital and later transferred to another facility at the request of relatives. He is said to be in stable condition.

The man lost his genitals and three toes in the gruesome incident, but apparently not his enthusiasm for wealth-building. “Even if I have lost some important parts of my body, I still want to get rich,” he said.

As WebProNews sugggested, the man who is now missing his private parts might have been better served by consulting a financial planner or perhaps a career coach: “… witch doctors are revered members of the community in some parts of the world. In some communities, they do good work by using herbal remedies to cure common illnesses. What they aren’t good at is financial planning. If you want to get rich, it’s going to take more than some voodoo magic. One Malawian man learned this lesson the hard way….”
