‘Game of Thrones’ Episode Titles, Clues For Season 4 Revealed

Spring may be on the horizon, but as far as Game of Thrones fans are concerned, Winter is coming instead. Game of Thrones season four debuts April 6th and in anticipation of the premiere episode, HBO has unveiled the first four episode titles providing fodder for fans who’ve already read the George R.R. Martin novels to decipher clues as to what is going down. The Game of Thrones season four episode titles are as follows:

[Warning: Spoilers Ahead]

Game of Thrones Episode 1: Two Swords

From a report seen on MTV.com this episode title could be a straight forward reference to events that take place in the novels:

“In ‘A Storm of Swords,’ the third novel in the ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series, Ned Stark’s Valyrian great sword Ice is broken down and turned into two new swords: one for King Joffrey, and one for Jaime Lannister. Joffrey names his Widow’s Wail, because of course he does. As for Jaime’s? We’ll get to that in a minute. For now, expect to see the destruction of Ice and the presentation of the new swords in the season four premiere.”

Game of Thrones Episode 2: The Lion and the Flower

Zap2it.com has an analysis of this episode title, with reference to the highly anticipated Purple Wedding amongst their explanation:

“‘The Lion and the Flower’ is also pretty obvious. The lion, of course, is a Lannister — Joffrey, in this case — and the flower is a Tyrell — Margaery. Considering it’s no secret that the engaged couple marry this season, you can bet some money that’s happening in this episode.”

Game of Thrones Episode 3: Breaker of Chains

This episode may focus on Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke, as she struggles to deal with her new found position of Queen while also wrestling with controlling her dragons. As previously seen on Inquisitr Daenerys’s dragons are fully grown at this point and could be difficult to contain.

Game of Thrones Episode 4: Oathkeeper

Zap2it.com keeps it coy when discussing this episode title. But it also offers clues as to another possibility as well:

“‘Oathkeeper’ is only obvious to fans who have read the books. Let’s just say that it will likely tie back to ‘Two Swords’ in a pretty significant way, and involve this storyline. It also could refer to Jon Snow discussing the Night’s Watch oaths he broke in Season 3.”

Game of Thrones Season Four premieres on Sunday April 6th on HBO.
