Seems Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev are still very close, and he obviously still cares enough about her that he sent her a sweet, public birthday wish on Twitter .
It’s not the first time Ian has been sweet with Nina on Twitter and he is always very complimentary of his ex and current co-star in The Vampire Diaries .
Back in September, when Dobrev scored the Cosmopolitan magazine cover, Ian Somerhalder also took to Twitter telling Nina:
“In a store this morning-who do I see?The one&only @ninadobrev,” he captioned it, as reported by The Inquisitr at the time. “These things are almost gone so If you haven’t gotten this magazine off of a shelf-get one. One word: Stunning… Congrats Nina! Xo Ian.”
Not too many ex-boyfriends, especially in Hollywood have bee so nice.
The couple is obviously close and also co-stars. On Wednesday, they were awarded the Favorite On Screen Chemistry Award at the People’s Choice for their portrayal of lovers Elena and Damon on the CW hit series.
On Stage they were all smiles and Ian Somerhalder couldn’t help himself and planted a smooch on Nina’s cheek.
They joked about their current friendship and break-up during their acceptance speech:
“And yet our characters are still dating on the show,” Somerhalder said.
“It’s a good thing it’s not awkward,” Dobrev added with a nervous laugh.
