‘Grey’s Anatomy Star’ Chandra Wilson To Guest Star On ‘General Hospital’

Grey’s Anatomy star Chandra Wilson is set to guest star on General Hospital.

“I’ve watched General Hospital for 35 years,” Wilson told Soaps In Depth. “I grew up with it. It holds such a place in my heart.”

Wilson said she initially thought the guest appearance came about after she ran into Roger Howarth, who plays Franco on General Hospital. The character was formerly created and portrayed by James Franco in 2009.

“Roger was visiting the Grey’s set, and we talked about it. Then, the following Friday, I got the call,” the 44-year-old said. “I asked [General Hospital executive producer] Frank [Valentini] if this was because of Roger and he said, ‘No. This has been in the works before.’ So I don’t know! But I’m glad it’s happening!”

Chandra Wilson also joked as a fan of General Hospital, she can’t talk to the cast when she sees them.

“Even though we’ve shared the same lot for 10 years I can’t talk to anybody on the lot,” she said. “It’s weird to see them because they’re supposed to be in Port Charles! I have that kind of fan disconnect.”

According to TV Guide, Wilson doesn’t know whom she’ll be playing on General Hospital, but there is a possibility that she could appear as her Grey’s character, Dr. Miranda Bailey since both shows are produced by and air on ABC.

Wilson, a Houston native, has been nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series four times for her portrayal of “the Nazi,” a nickname given to Bailey by her colleagues because of her tough personality and blunt attitude. She also won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series for the season six episode, “Give Peace a Chance.”

Chandra Wilson’s guest appearance on General Hospital will air Tuesday, January 28.
