Game Of Thrones Video Game Will Be Released In Tandem With Season 4
A Game of Thrones video game on the way in 2014 promises to tie into the popular HBO series and give fans a chance to play as their favorite Lannisters.
The game will come through the studio Telltale Games, which also released a Walking Dead video game. The game will be released as an episodic series, developers said.
“We’ll be taking advantage of all the fiction to make something great,” said Telltale CEO Dan Connors at the VGX 2013 awards show. “We’re just really getting into it right now and thinking about characters — who has the most at stake, who has the biggest impact on the world.”
This isn’t actually the first Game of Thrones video game. In 2012 there was a role playing game developed by Cyanide that received only mixed reviews.
Telltale Games, which has developed the most recent video game version of the fantasy series, has gained a reputation for its graphic adventure games. Fans may know it from adventure-game adaptations of Homestar Runner, Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, and Borderlands.
If the newest Game of Thrones video game is like Telltale’s Walking Dead effort, fans can expect a character-driven adventure game that focuses heavily on storytelling.
Other than that, Telltale is pretty tight-lipped about what the game might contain. A preview trailer shows none of the actual gameplay, so fans will be forced to wait until 2014 to see what the Game of Thrones video game is all about.

The Game of Thrones video game is adapted from George R.R. Martin’s fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire, which just completed its third season as a popular HBO program. The fourth season is set to premiere in 2014, which will come out in tandem with the video game.
