Kirstie Alley Calls Leah Remini A ‘Bigot’

Actress Kirstie Alley sure doesn’t mince her words when it comes to her ex-friend actress Leah Remini. The two reportedly parted ways once Remini spoke out against the Church of Scientology, and it was said that she had to break ties from people she considered to be friends who were still part of the church.

Due to the church’s policies once you leave the Church of Scientology a person is forced to ex communicate themselves from the members of the church. Remini was very open about all of the friends she lost due to her new stance on the religion. Now Kirstie Alley is talking back and she doesn’t have anything nice to say about her once dear friend.

Speaking openly to Howard Stern, the Cheers star called Leah Remini a “bigot.” Elaborating on her thoughts about her once good friend, Kirstie Alley said:

“The thing about me is, I don’t care what religion you are. If someone is attacking your religion, I will have your back, and I will defend you. I think that is the most repulsive thing a person can do, attack another person’s faith. Because a faith is what you look to to have hope, and is what you look to to help other people. I just think it’s really wrong.”

Alley also told Howard Stern that she thought Leah Remini’s claims about the religion as “bulls–t.”

While on Dancing With the Stars, Remini claimed that the Church of Scientology was “looking for her to fail.”

Of Remini’s claims Kirstie Alley said that she knows of people who have left and are fine.

“I just want to everyone to know I have hundreds of friends and people that I know that have come into Scientology and left Scientology. It is not true that you cannot [leave]. You’re not shunned, you’re not chased. All that stuff’s bulls–t.”

Alley went on to say that Leah Remini went on a path to malign the church and all of its members. The most interesting thing about Kirstie Alley’s candid interview is her claim that she wasn’t as close to Remini as the actress let on.

“The truth is, I don’t think I’ve seen Leah for seven or eight years, not for any reason other than I’m acting, and she’s acting. I didn’t care if she was in or out.”

So where does this leave the friendship when all is said and done? According to Alley it’s not fixable.

“I have blocked her on Twitter because she’s a bigot. If someone was really out there [saying negative things about your religion], would they be your friend?”
