Russell Brand Joins “Rock Of Ages” Cast
Russell Brand has joined the cast of Rock of Ages, the Tony-nominated musical that already stars Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Mary J. Blige and Julianne Hough.
The musical will be directed by Hairspray helmsman Adam Shankman.
If you’re not familiar with Rock Of Ages it’s a love story that uses the biggest hits of the 1980s to tell it’s story. Whether your a fan of Bon Jovi or Twister Sister, Pat Benatar or Journey, you’ll probably find something you like in the production.
Brand signed on the dotted line after his two movies Hop and Arthur took the No. 1 and No. 2 comedy spots in America over the weekend.
Russell will play rock club operator and show narrator Lonny.
Shankman made the announcement on his personal Twitter account, tweeting:
“I can officially announce Russell Brand as your Lonny in #rockofagesmovie ! I see a mullet in his future…maybe a Nikki Six?”
With production set to begin next month the movie is expected to be released sometime in 2012.
