Josh Brolin has admitted that is “completely done” with drinking, after he became embroiled in a bar brawl on Friday evening.
The 45-year-old actor was involved in an altercation with a bouncer outside a Santa Monica bar, and footage has since emerged of Brolin shouting abuse at a cab driver.
It’s believed that the thespian’s car was rear-ended a few hours earlier at a fast food drive-thru, which lead to his argument with the driver.
Brolin was asked by a member of the paparazzi how he felt on Sunday night, just two days after the incident, to which he retorted, “Beautiful. Much better than a couple of nights ago.”
He was then asked if he was going to quite drinking, which Brolin confirmed, “Absolutely. It won’t be happening again. That’s it. Completely done.”
So what really happened to force Brolin to such a monumental, yet, maybe, integral decision. After looking to make a purchase at Los Angeles Del Taco drive-thru early on Friday morning, Brolin lost his cool and accused a taxi driver of scratching his car. He could allegedly be hear shouting, “You suck as a cab driver,” towards him too.
Not done with his activity, “Brolin then headed to O’Brien’s Irish Pub in Santa Monica. However, he soon erupted in anger when he was informed that it was closing for the night, and he then began to try and punch the security guard.
However, their fisticuffs didn’t develop pass anything but a small disagreement, with the Gangster Squad actor insisting, “We were just hugging.” Brolin was then seen hugging the man, before eventually catching a taxi home.
Brolin has a mixed past with alcohol, having been arrested several times over the last few years after boozing heavily. He was incarcerated on January 1, 2013, after causing a ruckus in another Santa Monica establishment, for public intoxication. However he was only placed in jail for four hours, before paying the $250 bail, which lead to him being released at 7:14 am, on the first new day of the year.
On December 20, 2004, Brolin was allegedly in an altercation with his ex-wife, Diane Lane, who he separated from after eight years of marriage several months ago.
He was arrested on a charge of domestic battery, however Lane decided not to press charges against her husband, and the incident was later called a simple misunderstanding.
