Gwyneth Paltrow Really Doesn’t Care What Her Critics Think
Gwyneth Paltrow doesn’t spend a lot of her free time worrying about the critics.
No matter what the Iron Man 3 star does or says, there’s always someone waiting in the wings to make some sort of snide remark about it. The actress also had to contend with a scathing piece in Vanity Fair that suggested she was had an affair with Jeff Soffer.
Despite all of the negativity surrounding Gwyneth Paltrow on a fairly regular basis, she recently told the folks at Red magazine that she couldn’t care less about what these people have to say.
“The older I get, I realize it doesn’t matter what people who don’t know you think. It doesn’t matter. You’re wasting your energy,” Paltrow told the publication.
She continued, “It’s like, if your partner comes to you — or your best friend — and says, ‘Listen, I want to talk about something you did that hurt me, or I think you could improve,’ sit down and listen to what they have to say. But some friend of so-and–sos — it’s like, who gives a s***?”
Her rambling commentary didn’t stop there. Gwyneth Paltrow also took issue with women who feel the need to pass judgment on other women. In her opinion, everyone just needs to zip their lips and mind their own business.
The actress added:
“Nobody else can tell [a woman] how many hours a week she needs to devote to this, that or the other… F*** what anybody else says… It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. That’s what we’ve got to let go of. That idea of ‘Oh god, if I don’t show up to this concert, all the other moms are going to think I’m terrible.’ Well, so f***ing what.”
Paltrow’s interview with Red magazine arrived shortly after the Vanity Fair piece suggested she was unfaithful to her husband Chris Martin. Once news about the article started making the rounds, the actress’ spokesperson issued a statement about the rumored infidelity.
“It’s completely false. Jeff is a longtime friend of Gwyneth’s and there was no romantic relationship with him at all, He flew many of his friends to Miami that weekend — not just Gwyneth,” the rep recently told the Daily Mail regarding the affair.
Here’s what the actress said about marital infidelity earlier this year:
I think it would be hard for me to be one of those wives who finds out there’s been something going on behind my back 20 years in… It would definitely make things harder, but I believe that if there’s authenticity and honesty right off the bat, things will be okay.”
