James Taylor Screws Up National Anthem Before World Series Game [Video]
James Taylor screwed up the National Anthem last night before the second game of the World Series at Fenway Park.
So what words did the singer mess up? Well, Taylor was able to make it through the “Star Spangled Banner” without much of a problem. The screw up came a few seconds before the National Anthem when he accidentally started singing “America, The Beautiful.”
Taylor got all the way to “Oh beautiful…” before he realized his mistake and changed his tune.
James Taylor was able to cover up his National Anthem mistake pretty smoothly and transitioned from “America, The Beautiful” into the “Star Spangled Banner” without much of a problem. Taylor also has a pretty good excuse for the screw up: He sang “America, The Beautiful” later in the game.
Still, the 65-year-old singer was called out on Twitter for the mess up.
One user wrote: “James Taylor is great and all, but he just made up his own National Anthem.”
Another added: “I’ve seen fire and I’ve seen rain and at least I know which song is the #nationalanthem.”
Here’s the video of James Taylor singing the National Anthem at the World Series.
James Taylor isn’t the first singer to mess up the National Anthem. Remember when Christina Aguilera sang “what so proudly we watched” instead of “o’er the ramparts we watched….” Oh the horror.
What did you think of James Taylor’s performance? Did you notice his mix up last night during the World Series?
