Catherine Zeta-Jones Divorce Not Imminent, Michael Douglas Hopeful

The Catherine Zeta-Jones divorce is not set in stone, as Michael Douglas is hopeful the two can work it out. That says something for the couple’s dedication, as most Hollywood couples tend to just get divorced at the drop of a hat.

It seems the temporary separation was what Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones needed to get past their marital woes.

For those who have been following the story of Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, this last August, the two were said to be on the verge of divorce, some citing Catherine Zeta-Jones’ battle with bipolar disorder, a struggle to say the least. Others claimed it may have had something to do with Michael Douglas lying about having throat cancer, as previously reported by The Inquisitr, possibly indicating he may have lied about other things as well.

It was falsely stated that Michael Douglas had throat cancer because of oral sex, said his rep, and then it turned out to be a tongue tumor.

It appears Michael Douglas is hopeful that the rumored divorce with Catherine Zeta-Jones won’t be necessary, considering that Hollywood divorces rarely end well. Someone always gets hurt in the end, no matter where it happens.

It was mostly media hype that insisted on the divorce between the two celebrities, as it was made clear that divorce wasn’t their goal in the first place.

Last night on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Michael Douglas opened up on the progress of the couple’s marital problems, stating that separation may have been just what they needed to avoid the ultimate end of their union.

When Jay Leno asked Michael Douglas how he felt about it, he said:

“Good, I hope. I’ve been away for a while, but everything should hopefully be on the up and up. … Sometimes people take a little bit of a break, but [it] doesn’t necessarily mean that’s the end. So, I’m very hopeful.”

Reports have shown that the marriage is far from over, as when Catherine Zeta-Jones stepped out on the red carpet, she was spotted wearing her wedding ring in spite of her separation from Michael Douglas, dissuading the divorce rumors surrounding Catherine Zeta-Jones.

The RED 2 star’s publicist has told the press that Catherine Zeta-Jones and her estranged husband “are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage.”

Michael Douglas told the press at the recent Emmy awards, “Catherine is great. She is doing wonderful, talked to her today [and] just got a lovely note from her. I’m very hopeful that we’re going to work things out.”

Michael Douglas is officially hopeful that his 13 year marriage won’t end in a divorce from Catherine Zeta-Jones, and isn’t giving up.
