Austin Mahone was rushed to the hospitalized last week, and his spokesperson has now revealed the source of the 17-year-old’s illness.

“[Austin] was admitted to the hospital with 104 temperature and is being treated for a blood clot and extreme inflammation in his throat, as well as severe dehydration,” the spokesperson said , adding that Mahone “is now on strict doctor’s orders to stay on rest.”

The hospitalization has forced the young “What About Love” singer to postpone his entire MTV Artist to Watch Tour . The sold-out tour will be moved to 2014.

Austin Mahone’s mother, Michele, took over her son’s Twitter account last week to update fans about his health and the tour.

“Hey Mahomies its @michelemahone Austin is very ill. Unfortunately we are going to have to postpone the entire MTV Artist to Watch Tour,” she wrote.

“Austin is very upset about this & we want to say we are sorry to all the Mahomies & their parents who have made arrangements to come out,” she continued. “We feel very bad but we have no choice but to POSTPONE the tour for now. Thank you for your prayers #PrayforAustin.”

Austin Mahone was scheduled to kick off his tour October 17 in Miami. After being chosen as the opening act for Taylor Swift’s Red tour and Bridgit Mendler’s Summer Tour, this would have been the San Antonian’s first time headlining his own tour.

“I’ve been in the dance rehearsals for a couple weeks now just getting ready,” Mahone said before his hospitalization . “I’ve gotten more dancers. I’ve gotten more songs I’m adding to it, so you know we got like lasers and lights and smoke… And it’s gonna be a huge production, so I’m really excited… so it’s gonna be a really fun tour, and I can’t wait.”

Austin Mahone, who has been called “the second coming of Justin Bieber” or “the next Justin Bieber” got his start the same way the 19-year-old Canadian did — on YouTube. He first started posting music videos to the site in January 2011 and began building an online following. In October 2011, he covered Bieber’s “Mistletoe,” and less than a year later in August 2012, he announced that he had officially signed to Chase/Universal Republic Records. He is also signed to Young Money and Cash Money Entertainment.

Mahone has been nominated for several awards, including Radio Disney Music Awards, as well as an MTV Video Music Award and an MTV Europe Music Award. He won the Radio Disney award for Breakout Star, the Young Hollywood award for Breakout Artist, and the VMA for Artist to Watch.
