Boston Celtics’ Brandon Bass Is Learning To Swim Aged 28, Alongside A Group Of 10 Year Olds [Video]

Boston Celtics’ Brandon Bass has decided to learn how to swim at the age of 28, alongside 10 children of the Boys & Girls Club of Boston, each of whom are 10-years-old.

Bass has revealed that he was inspired to learn to swim by his two young children, who absolutely adore the water but are never joined by their father as despite being in peak physical condition, he has never mastered the art of swimming.

The NBA professional has now looked to adjust this after he pledged to learn and complete a swimming course, even if his training schedule with the Boston Celtics gets in the way.

Bass, who is 6 foot 8 and weighs in at 260 pounds, will continue to take the lessons until he is able to swim all by himself.

The basketballer admitted that his son was the first person in his family to ever take to the water confidentially.

He then chillingly added, “If you threw me out in the ocean, I would drown. I’m nervous, because I don’t know how to float. I can’t tread water.”

Bass is now hoping that his nautical endeavors will inspire other mature non-swimmers to join him.

Alongside Bass’ 6-year-old son, Brandon Jnr, the athlete’s 20 month daughter, Bella, has also begun to take swimming lessons too.

Bass, who was born and grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisana, admitted that there was never a place where he could learn to swim near his home.

However, after Bass bought a new abode in Orlando with a pool and a lake, he watched his son spend hour after hour on a jet ski, but he then realised that he didn’t feel safe on the contraption.

Bass commented, “I can tell he’s having the time of his life, and he doesn’t have a worry in the world. But I’m a little worried.”

Bass then added, “Even if you don’t want to swim, it’s important to learn in case you need to.”
