Mardy Fish will not be playing at the US Open.

Fish has been having health problems recently and was hoping to make a comeback at the annual tournament this week. T

he former top-10 player did not give a specific reason why he was withdrawing his name but said that he wasn’t playing in the U.S. Open due to his health.

USA Today reports that Fish suffered heat stroke on Tuesday while playing against Jarkko Nieminen in Winston, North Carolina. The tennis player also missed much of last season for an accelerated heartbeat.

Fish has only played 8 matches during the ATP World Tour and hasn’t played at any of the Grand Slam tournaments this season.

At Wimbledon last month, Mardy Fish opened up about his health problems.

The tennis player said: ” struggled mightily during the U.S. Open last year. So those sort of post-traumatic experiences that I’ve had — that I have now — are what I need to get over right now. But it’s a process. It’s not an easy game. And fitness is as big a part of it as playing, and sometimes that’s trouble — spells trouble — for me.”
