Sylvester Stallone’s ‘Grudge Match’ Hits Theaters This Christmas

The Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro boxing comedy Grudge Match is now expected to hit theaters across North American this December.

The flick was originally slated to arrive at some point during January. However, the release date has now shifted to Christmas Day. Apparently Warner Bros. has developed a bit more faith in the project.

Grudge Match finds Sylvester Stallone getting back in the boxing ring once again. The last time the actor strapped on the gloves was for the 2006 drama Rocky Balboa. The film finds Stallone and De Niro portraying two aging boxers who come out of retirement for one last fight.

Of course, this isn’t the only Sylvester Stallone flick that’s currently looming on the cinematic horizon. The actor will also star alongside fellow 80s action hero Arnold Schwarzenegger in the upcoming prison thriller Escape Plan.

For a film that sounds like something that should have done straight-to-video, the flick sports an impressive cast. In addition to Stallone and Schwarzenegger, the film also features Jim Caviezel, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Vinnie Jones, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Amy Ryan. That’s a lot of talent for what sounds like a typical prison escape movie.

If all of this isn’t enough to satisfy your cravings for Stallone-related cinema, then you can check out The Expendables 3 when it arrives in theaters next year. Although the entire cast hasn’t been hammered out yet, fans of the franchise can expect to see Wesley Snipes in this mix this time around.

The Inquisitr previously reported that Sylvester Stallone is currently courting a number of familiar faces for the sequel. Jackie Chan, Nicolas Cage, and Milla Jovovich are just a handful of actors Stallone wants for the follow-up. The movie opens in theaters in August of 2015.
