It looks like all the naughty fan boys aren’t on the West Coast at Comic-Con- apparently at least one hung back to cosplay rob a bank.

Yesterday in Setauket, on Long Island, a man strode into a Chase branch wearing a Darth Vader mask, a blue cape and… camouflage pants. The unidentified suspect then proceeded to rob the bank, but not all the customers took him seriously:

“The customer thought it might have been a joke, and not a serious attempt at a robbery,” said Suffolk County police Detective Sgt. William Lamb.

But Darth wasn’t kidding – and he wasn’t going to be stopped by a non-Jedi Knight.

He won a “shoving match” against the incredulous customer before using his piece to order him to the floor, Lamb said.

The ersatz Darth shoved the money in a bag and fled, and the bank is still trying to tally up how much cash he managed to grab. Police have not been able to identify the suspect, but he’s described as being about 6″2′ tall with poor costume making skills.
