Microsoft and MovieTickets.com Team Up For Xbox Live Ordering

Microsoft and MovieTickets.com have teamed up to offer movie tickets directly from the Xbox 360 dashboard. Users can now see a movie advertisement, then click on that ad and order their tickets immediately.

According to Microsoft’s press release, Xbox LIVE members are also now able to make mobile ticket purchases by texting-in or by viewing any Microsoft Tag in a movie advert.

Clicking on ads will also give new forms of interaction previously unseen by users. According to MovieTickets.com CEO Joel Cohen:

“Working with Microsoft and the Xbox brand exposes MovieTickets.com to an entertainment-driven audience, providing the perfect opportunity to engage like-minded users with our online movie ticketing solutions,” while adding “We’re excited to be the first company allowing users the opportunity to interact with a movie advertising experience on Xbox LIVE and easily convert it into an online ticket purchase via their mobile device.”

It’s not clear how Microsoft Tags will be used to buy tickets at this time and the movie theater you want to visit has to be a movietickets.com customer, so there are still definitely some hurdles, but regardless it’s an exciting time for Microsoft Live users.

What do you think, would you use this service or buy tickets the traditional way? [SlashGear]
