GOP opens “America Speaking Out” for web feedback, was amusing until all the comments disappeared

It seems that the Republican Party wants to get in on this whole hip new internet thing, and has created a website allowing everyone to post some feedback about America- kind of like HotorNot but for political policy.

I was eying up some nuggets of rantiness to post, but it seems that in the interim, almost everything has disappeared from the site. That may not actually be the case, but the user interface was tricky for me to figure out (and I do this all day, unlike your grandma), so I don’t know how the rest of America is faring trying to navigate it. Luckily, other blogs and news sites have managed to preserve some of the more entertaining feedback posted- but it’s impossible to tell what’s intended seriously and what comes from lefties mocking the site.

For instance, the Washington Post snagged the comments below before posts started disappearing from the site. Are any of them real? All of them? Some of them?

“End Child Labor Laws,” suggests one helpful participant. “We coddle children too much. They need to spend their youth in the factories.”

“How about if Congress actually do thier job and VET or Usurper in Chief, Obama is NOT a Natural Born Citizen in any way,” recommends another. “That fake so called birth certificate is useless.”

“A ‘teacher’ told my child in class that dolphins were mammals and not fish!” a third complains. “And the same thing about whales! We need TRADITIONAL VALUES in all areas of education. If it swims in the water, it is a FISH. Period! End of Story.”

If you visit the site right this second, most categories are empty or have at most three posts, something that was not the case less than an hour ago. It’s not clear if all the content was deliberately scrubbed, or why such action may have been taken. However, the fact new comments aren’t being reposted suggests that the people managing the site may have removed the posts and blocked further submissions for the time being.

If you visited AmericaSpeakingOut.com earlier today, what were your impressions?
