Panthers Unveil New Logo For 20th Anniversary

The Florida Panthers unveiled a new logo today to commentate their 20th year in the NHL.

The Panthers, who entered the league in 1993, will officially celebrate their 20th anniversary at the 2013 NHL draft.

The Panthers didn’t have the greatest season this year (they had the worst record in the league) but the Panthers are trying to get fans excited for 2013. They’ll have the second overall pick in this year’s draft and according to Rant Sports, they’ll probably use that pick to draft 17-year-old phenom Nathan MacKinnon.

The Panthers also have a young core of players in Jonathan Huberdeau, Drew Shore, Nick Bjugstad and Quinton Howden returning next year. It’s too early to tell if the Panthers will be any good in 2013 but they are starting to build a team for their next decade in the NHL.

Florida Panthers general manager Dale Tallon didn’t give any clues about who the Panthers would draft but he did say that he expects the player to contribute immediately to the team.

Tallon said: “We’re hopeful … We’re going to be a young team. It’s going to be a necessary part of our puzzle moving forward. I would hope the guy we select can play for us next year … It’s a pretty evenly balanced draft … Looks like there’s an equal number of forwards and defensemen that are very good. We have four picks in the first 97, so we feel we’re going to get four really good players and really fix our depth chart.”

Here’s the new Panthers logo.
