Jaguars O-Lineman unloads on Tim Tebow

The Jacksonville Jaguars and owner Wayne Weaver have repeatedly said they will try to draft QB Tim Tebow as a way to help the team sell tickets. However, now that the St. Louis Rams may be sold to local interests we cannot discount the fact that the Jaguars may not be in Florida that much longer. As a business move, drafting Tebow makes a lot of sense, he is from Jacksonville, and he is a very popular figure in the Sunshine State. However, as a legitimate talent Tebow just doesn’t stack up.

This is a fact not lost on current Jags O-lineman Uche Nwaneri. Uche posted his thoughts on Tebow on the team’s official message board. Uche had a five point plan mostly centering on the fact hat Tebow does not have the arm to make NFL passes, he cannot read NFL defenses, a wild cat QB will not make a lasting impact in the NFL, and the fact that Tebow cannot throw.

Uche went onto say that Tebow cannot throw. It is a fact that seems to be lost on many rabid Florida Gators fans. While Tebow will go down in history as one of the best College Players ever, he simply does not have the skill set to be a NFL QB. Throwing a football is something one can do, or he can’t, and it seems that Tebow just cannot.

As a writer with a NFL draft column, I have to agree with Uche’s assessment. Beyond a ticket selling novelty, Tebow has no value to a NFL organization. It is a sad fact, but his skills in the College game will not transfer well into the NFL, at least at the QB position.
