Sidney Lowe Arrested: Former NC State Coach Charged With Tax Evasion

Sidney Lowe was arrested on Monday after he failed to file his state income taxes in North Carolina.

According to Fox News, the former North Carolina State basketball coach was charged with tax evasion after he failed to file his taxes in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Low was arrested on Monday morning and booked at the Wake County Jail. He was released later that day on $10,000 unsecured bond. Lowe is facing three misdemeanor counts of tax evasion.

It is unclear what Lowe owes but according to Rant Sports the former NC State coach was making $500,000 a year during his tenure with the Wolfpack.

Lowe played for NC State in the 1980s and won the 1983 NCAA Championship as the starting point guard on the “Cardiac Pack.” Lowe returned to the school in 2006 to become the head coach. In 2011, after failing to bring NC State to the NCAA tournament, Lowe left the team.

Lowe is currently an assistant coach for the Utah Jazz. The NBA team said that it was aware of the situation but did not offer a comment.

Lowe, of course, isn’t the only person facing major tax issues at the moment. Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, and Kevin Federline have all recently been hit with major tax liens.
