Many online retailers participating in free shipping day today

Okay, can we quit saying “last minute shopping” in general when Christmas isn’t for like another week or something?

I really can’t stand the consumerist guilt heaped upon those who must wait for Christmas bonuses to shop or don’t give in to the pressure to start checking off a massive naughty or nice list to be “ready” in July.

Like in the Washington Post:

To cater to those procrastinators (you know who you are), about 700 sites plan to offer some form of free shipping on Thursday, with many requiring a minimum purchase amount.

That said, I completely admit that this is a total boon if you, like me, have only got half your shipping done. Details about who is participating and under what circumstances (minimum amount, delivery info) can be found at the Free Shipping Day website. 382 merchants, including the Apple Store, eBags, Levi’s, Shoe Mall and The Body Shop have no minimum order for the deal. (Apple’s even expediting shipping.) HSN, J. Crew, J.C. Penney, Kiehl’s, Kohl’s and Land’s End are among the retailers offering free shipping on selected items or a minimum purchase.

Today (December 17th) is the only designated day for the promotion, so it really is a good idea to get cracking. But you won’t get any chiding from me.
