Jake Locker To Start On Sunday

Jake Locker is expected to start this Sunday when the Tennessee Titans take on the Miami Dolphins.

Locker has missed the team’s last five games with a dislocated shoulder. According to Yahoo Sports, Locker was cleared by doctors earlier today and is expected to start this Sunday.

The Titans have a bye next week so its possible that the team decides to sit Jake on Sunday in order to give him an extra two weeks of rest. Head coach Mike Munchak said, however, that there was no advantage to waiting until after the bye to play Locker.

Munchak said:

“There is really no advantage to waiting until after the bye because there will be a longer period of time since he’s actually played in the game … Jake is very determined. His mind-set is he could have played last week if we would have let him. He has been ready mentally.”

NFL.com notes that Locker dislocated his non-throwing arm so his passing game shouldn’t be hindered at all when he takes the field. Locker also said that he’s been working out to make sure that he’s game ready on Sunday.

Locker said:

“Physically I was able to keep myself in shape, and I was able to throw for most of it … Just kind of making sure that you’re in the mental grind of it. But, you know, I tried to do that as well as I could too. I prepared as if I was playing and tried to help Matt anyway I could. Those were things I tried not to get lackadaisical on so I didn’t have to adjust to that.”

The Titans suffered an embarrassing loss last week to the Chicago Bears and are currently 3-6 for the season.

Do you think Jake Locker will be able to turn things around for the Titans this season?
