2017 Smartphone Rumors: iPhone 8 Getting Flexible Display, Samsung Galaxy S8’s Official Accessories Revealed?

As the new year looms, more and more speculations and rumors transpire about the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the iPhone 8, the anticipated 2017 flag bearers of Samsung and Apple, respectively. While Samsung Galaxy S8 is already purported for its official accessories, 2017 Apple iPhone with flexible display is starting to create a buzz.

According to rumors, Apple is said to offer three models of iPhone 8 in 2017 as they celebrate the 10th anniversary of their smartphone brand. The two iPhone 8 models are rumored to be the next-gen versions of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus while the new one will sport a “bezel-less design” equipped with an OLED display which wraps around the edges and sides of the phone, 9to5Mac reported, further adding the following.

“This iPhone is also expected to feature a Touch ID Home Button somehow integrated into the display itself, eliminating the bottom bezel ‘chin’. The OLED iPhone 8 continues to be described as ‘bezel-less’ but it is unclear how Apple will deal with the top bezel which currently features a speaker and FaceTime camera.”

Being Apple’s smartphone offering during a milestone year, the iPhone 8 lineup is expected to arrive with significant changes and one of the rumors that previously appeared noted that it could be equipped with all-glass casings, which reportedly will enable the new mobile devices to charge wirelessly at a fast rate “with minimum disruption from frequency interference.”

However, not all iPhone 2018 models might be bundled with a wireless charger as it could be only limited to higher-capacity SKUs, according to KGI Securities’ famous Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Even so, tech fans can anticipate the iPhone maker “to adopt wireless charging aggressively through 2018.” Pegatron is reported as the lone supplier for the iPhone 8’s wireless charger.

But aside from these already seemingly interesting new features for the new iPhone, there’s another development suggesting that Apple could really bring the iPhone 8 to the next level. A fresh report posted this day, November 24, by a Japanese website, RBB Today, shows an alleged patent application from Apple showing flexible display. Based on the English-translated (via Google Translate) version of the post, the patent published in U.S. Patent and Trademark Office showed “Flexible display devices” reportedly for collapsible smartphone by Apple. Could this be for the iPhone 8? Should we expect a flip phone from Apple soon?

The patent depicts the smartphone being “divided into sections by means of a hinge, which shows a possible folding of the display appearance,” the report shared.

“The hinge portion embedded in the flexible OLED display, an alloy of nickel and titanium is employed, to have combined elasticity and shape memory capabilities, was specifically disclosed.”

Meanwhile, talking about Samsung’s next flagship device, Sam Mobile claimed to have an exclusive scoop about the official accessories the Galaxy S8 will launch with. Accordingly, the 2017 Galaxy handset will come with typical accessories like a screen protector, a Protective Cover, a Clear Cover as well as a Clear View Cover, LED View Cover case, and a Keyboard Cover. Moreover, a Protective Cover made with Alcantara leather will also be highlighted as one of the official Samsung Galaxy S8 accessories.

Trusted Reviews described the Alcantara leather as “a synthetic suede-like material made from polyester and polyurethane, and is common in high-end cars.”

In addition to these protective casings, Galaxy S8 is also expected to release with a Multimedia Dock to offer “enhanced connectivity options” for the smartphone. Mobile users who usually run out of battery fast should know that Samsung will also offer a 2,600mAh Backpack – a battery pack that will allow the Galaxy S8 for on-the-go charging.

The South Korean tech giant previously confirmed that the Galaxy S8 will have a Viv-based digital assistant service, a “slick design,” and an “improved camera.” The freshest detail churned out by the latest rumors noted that the S8’s camera will have an 18 to 24 MP lens sensor. Also, the forthcoming smartphone is allegedly going to be powered by a new beast from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 835, a report from the Inquisitr noted.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 might officially be in the market before the first quarter of 2017 ends while the iPhone 8 is expected to have a release date at the latter part of next year, more specifically, around September.
