WWE Rumors: Roman Reigns Pulled From European Tour

In what has to be concerning news for WWE fans, Roman Reigns was pulled from the current European tour that is ongoing. The news came through Twitter from Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer. According to Meltzer, there was no word on why he was pulled, but it was not injury-related.

When a fan guessed that it might be drug-related, Meltzer said it was “nothing of the sort” although he had already claimed there was no reason currently known for why Roman Reigns was pulled from the tour. When today’s show was held in Vienna, Roman Reigns was not there and Big Cass took his place to fight Rusev.

Edited to say that Comicbook.com reported that Dave Meltzer later said Roman Reigns had “family obligations” and had to leave the European tour.

It is most interesting that Meltzer said there was no reason given for Roman Reigns’ removal from the tour, but that he seems sure it was not due to the wellness policy. Since Meltzer said it was not due to injury, the only other reasons are likely to be illness or a family emergency back home.

No matter what the reason, most people will remember the fact that Roman Reigns was suspended while he was the world champion in July for failing the WWE drug tests. As the Inquisitr previously reported, the suspension was not enough to keep him off the next PPV event Battleground, but it was enough to get him pushed down the card.

Roman Reigns is the current United States champion and has been feuding with Rusev since September. However, he is scheduled to take part in the Raw vs. SmackDown Survivor Series match. That match sees Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Braun Strowman, Kevin Owens, and Chris Jericho taking on A.J. Styles, Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton, and Shane McMahon.

The Inquisitr also reported that Roman Reigns is also supposed to move into a main event feud with Universal Champion Kevin Owens in December. There were even rumors of a title vs. title feud between the two men. A failed wellness test would spoil that completely.

It was just last month that Paige suffered her second straight wellness failure. Her first came around the same time as Roman Reigns’ first suspension. Those suspensions were for 30 days but a second failure would put Roman Reigns out for 60 days. If Meltzer is wrong, and Roman Reigns did fail a second test, that would put him out until the middle of January, just in time to return for the Royal Rumble.

Roman Reigns’ last appearance in the WWE ring was in Berlin on Wednesday night when he defended his United States Championship against Rusev. Since he is now out for the rest of the European tour, it looks like Big Cass will get the chance to fight Rusev in singles matches instead.

The WWE has been working hard to rebuild Roman Reigns into someone the fans will get behind. Fans turned on him when he was thrust into the main event scene and even cheered for a cheating Triple H over him. Fans cheered for almost anyone over Roman Reigns until the WWE finally slowed down his push.

Putting Roman Reigns against Rusev was smart because Rusev is the “evil foreign villain” that WWE fans love to boo. However, they are still not completely behind bullying Roman Reigns right now. Hopefully, there is nothing seriously wrong behind removing him from the tour and he can continue his rehabilitation. No one will know until next Monday night to see if Roman Reigns is back on WWE Monday Night Raw or not.
