WWE News: UFC Star Ronda Rousey Being Recruited For Return To WWE After MMA Career Ends

UFC Star Ronda Rousey hasn’t fought in nearly a year, but she will return to the Octagon soon. Much to the chagrin of MMA fans, Ronda claimed it could be one of her last fights. She mentioned as much on Ellen this past week, which started a lot of talk. Obviously, she has been a great star for the UFC’s Women’s Bantamweight Division. Many believe she was responsible for a women’s revolution in sports and possibly in entertainment. Without any doubt, she should be credited with making sure women’s fighting is as big as it is now.

The reason was her dominance. She was the first and only UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion for some time, but she finally lost shockingly to Holly Holm last year. At that time, all of the bandwagon fans came out to totally rip her. She did not deserve anything close to the hate she got after her one loss in the fight world. This woman went from two different companies in Strikeforce and UFC and was undefeated for years.

This was after she became the first woman in American history to medal in Judo at the Olympic Games when she won the bronze at the 2008 games. The greatness of Ronda Rousey has been there for at least eight years. She was one of the top names in her sport during her time, but one loss and many decided to bash her continuously for losing. She had to do a lot of her own promotion for some time as she was really the only star in her division. She was under a microscope for her every move too.

UFC President Dana White once said he would never allow women to fight in the UFC, but Ronda Rousey became his biggest star. The company now has two different female divisions. Ronda ruled in one for years, and she might once again become the champion when she fights Amanda Nunez at UFC 207. Nunez was the latest champion in a hot potato division since Ronda lost last year.

Holly would beat Ronda only to lose the title to Miesha Tate, then Tate would lose it to Nunez. Obviously, Ronda Rousey never got a rematch, so Dana White decided to give a title fight for her return bout. However, it will be one of her last fights, and a future doing something after UFC is obviously going to be needed. Ronda is only 29 years old too. She claimed for some time she never wanted to fight well into her 30’s, so her recent remarks are not out of left field.

TMZ caught up with WWE Executive Stephanie McMahon recently and asked her if she would want to see Ronda Rousey return to the WWE. Without missing a beat, McMahon said, “God I certainly hope so. I’ve got to get her back after she put me in that armbar.”

Of course, Stephanie is talking about WrestleMania 31 when Ronda and The Rock went face to face in a segment with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Ronda would judo throw The Game only to have Stephanie overreact and try to go after Rousey. Ronda would then put her in an armbar, but eventually released her before it went too far.

It was a really awesome segment, and fans went crazy for it. Ronda Rousey is a massive wrestling fan too. She was spotted at PWG shows in the past and has been around other independent wrestling often when not at WWE events. She even uses her “Rowdy” nickname from WWE legend Roddy Piper, who was a huge supporter of Rousey for years. She clearly has all the credentials needed to be a WWE Superstar, and obviously, WWE knows this and would be more than happy to have her return and be part of the business.

It is unlikely Ronda Rousey would ever sign a major deal with WWE to be a full-time star. She is getting a lot of love from Hollywood right now, and she could only improve in her movie career as it continues to build. That means it would be completely obvious she would want to stick to this area if at all possible. However, The Rock has proven you can do both wrestling and have a great movie career.

She could very well have a contract similar to Brock Lesnar’s, which has worked wonders for he and WWE. Obviously, WWE would be open to anything just to have Ronda Rousey in the business, so there is a good indication they’ll be in talks. Ronda is not done with her MMA career just yet as her upcoming fight needs to occur, and of course, the infamous match-up with Cyborg needs to occur too. Then she might want to jump to pro-wrestling, and WWE would be the ideal place to end up.
