More Details Revealed On Hugh Jackman’s ‘Logan’: ‘It’s Like A Western’

Hugh Jackman, the popular Australian actor, has revealed to E! that Logan will be the title of his upcoming movie in the X-Men movie franchise.

The title itself suggests that the focus of the movie will be Logan, the man, rather than the violent Wolverine, Logan’s mutated form. And, like the Wolverine, Logan will be directed by James Mangold, who revealed that Hugh Jackman’s character in the upcoming movie will be an old man who relies on alcohol to overcome his emotional pain. According to The Wrap, James Mangold revealed the reason why Hugh Jackman’s Logan is being depicted as an alcoholic.

“As for our hero, well, he’s older now, and it’s clear his abilities aren’t what they once were. He’s fading on the inside, and his diminished healing factor keeps him in a constant state of chronic pain — hence booze as the painkiller.”

Even though he ages slowly due to his mutant healing abilities, Logan appears to be crumbling from the inside because of his prolonged battle against pain and suffering. Logan’s story in the film franchise is tragic because he lost his loved ones while fighting against the anti-mutants. In earlier Wolverine movies, Logan is depicted as a mutant who loses his memory after he’s shot with an adamantium bullet fired by William Stryker, a military colonel who’s an anti-mutant.

Logan’s pain can be attributed to the emotional turmoil he suffers when Kayla Silverfox, his lover, and several mutant friends, are killed during his confrontation with Stryker. Hugh Jackman’s first movie in the franchise shows Professor Charles Xavier, a mutant with telepathic powers, helping Logan heal his emotional wounds by enabling him to recall his past. Since Logan is yet to be healed from his past pain and trauma, Professor Xavier will return to help Logan in the popular actor’s upcoming movie.

Patrick Stewart’s role of Professor Xavier will be reprised, and the British actor will be working with Hugh Jackman and other actors such as Elizabeth Rodriguez, Stephen Merchant, and Doris Morgado. Earlier, speculations about Logan’s age in the movie were raised by fans after seeing a photo in which Hugh Jackman was wearing “Old Logan” make-up. The predictions have turned out to be justified because it’s been confirmed that Logan, the upcoming movie, will be set in the future and audiences will be seeing an elderly Logan. Additionally, Hugh Jackman’s mutant character will be seen confronting Mister Sinister, a Marvel comic supervillain.

Deadline reports that Hugh Jackman shared a poster of Logan on social media.

Hugh Jackman’s post shows a massive advertisement for the movie that is displayed on a building in New York’s Manhattan. The poster shows a child’s hand holding Wolverine’s clawed hand, reminiscent of the famous Spielberg movie, Schindler’s List. The poster reveals that Logan will be sharing a special relationship with a child, but because the plot hasn’t yet been revealed, the role played by the child character in the movie is not known.

It’s quite evident, though, that the child is not afraid of Wolverine’s dangerous claws. Additionally, it’s also clear that Logan’s relationship with the child will play a significant role in the movie. Even though Hugh Jackman’s character will be less violent in this film, the upcoming Logan has been given an “R” rating. According to The Wrap, the producer of the movie, Simon Kinberg, revealed that this film will be as a good as a top western action movie.

“It’s violent; it’s kind of like a western in its tone. It’s just a very cool, different film.”
