WWE News: Dolph Ziggler Discusses Miz Feud, Dean Ambrose, And AJ Styles Are Superstars To Watch

The latest WWE news focuses on superstar Dolph Ziggler, who has been challenging The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship for a few weeks now. Prior to that, he was involved just a bit in the WWE World Heavyweight Title picture with Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles. Ziggler, who has held both of these championships before, recently commented on all three of these superstars.

On Thursday, Ziggler spoke about several topics with Centre Daily Times ahead of an upcoming live WWE show at Bryce Jordan Center in Pennsylvania. During that September 25 WWE Live show, Ziggler is set to take on current Intercontinental Champion The Miz for the title. He mentioned himself and The Miz have had a sort of rebirth fighting back and forth over the title, which has been “great for the title and great for the brand.”

Ziggler also praised Miz despite the fact the two have been feuding in and out of the ring. He commented on how Miz has “done well for himself,” adding that Maryse is a major distraction near the ring. However, Ziggler also offered some praise over how Miz has helped the title.

“Whether or not you like him, whether he’s a bad guy or a good guy; the point is that he’s held that title and brought some prominence back to it for 180 days or however long it is. Something has to give for me, and something has to give for him. If I get a chance to get a fair match, one on one, no strings attached, I feel like I am a thousand times better than him in the middle of the ring.”

The two have battled in two separate matches, with a Backlash 2016 pay-per-view match ending in Miz’s favor. He retained the title thanks to his wife, Maryse, spraying some sort of substance in Ziggler’s face through the ring ropes. That allowed the current heel champion to keep his belt. Just this past week on SmackDown Live, Miz and Maryse were up to similar tactics. This time around, Maryse was ejected from ringside for having the spray canister. However, she left it behind, which allowed Miz to use it on Ziggler when the ref was distracted.

Prior to this current title feud, Ziggler was able to get himself into the bigger title picture and faced Dean Ambrose in a pay-per-view match at SummerSlam. That match went in favor of “The Lunatic Fringe” who kept his title. On a SmackDown episode, Ziggler would try to earn the top contender spot again, only to fall to AJ Styles. From there, Styles went on to capture the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Backlash from Ambrose.

When asked about superstars to watch right now, Ambrose and Styles were Ziggler’s two choices.

“I’m pretty good at being an outside observer and taking who I’m friends with out of the picture and just observing as a fan, and it’s guys like A.J. or Dean Ambrose (to watch out for). Those are guys who have been around for years, and whether they’re killing it now, which they are, it’s so cool to watch them as an observer.”

The fact that Ziggler got into the title picture is somewhat due to hard work but may also have been due to the fact Randy Orton couldn’t quite return to action in time to be part of the picture. Orton is usually a key player in the major title picture, but he was having issues being cleared for concussions after his SummerSlam loss to Brock Lesnar. Since then, Orton’s been in a strange and somewhat forgettable feud with Bray Wyatt. Ziggler seemed to be a guy who is being used as a “jobber” of sorts in the title pictures, which is disappointing for his fans.

That said, there are those who believe that a Ziggler heel turn is on the way, which could help his resurgence. That could be true as rumors of a new stable have popped up from sites, including 411 Mania. The word is WWE is planning for Ziggler to be a leader of the stable, which would be a “shooters club” and include former collegiate athletes banding together. Other names being included for potential stablemates are Jack Swagger, a returning Shelton Benjamin, and current American Alpha tag team member Chad Gable. There’s also talk Kurt Angle could come back and take a spot.

Still the fact that it’s being mentioned Ziggler would lead such a stable shows WWE’s commitment to making him great again (no need for Bob Backlund). He’s been lost in the shuffle quite a few times but has put in plenty of hard work. He certainly has the praise for his fellow wrestling stars that he has been working with. Is it possible that Ziggler could return to prominence with a stable of this nature and possibly capture a major championship?
